Amethyst

Amethyst is traditionally Feburary's birthstone. A greek legend actually helped lend a hand in naming the stone. In the story, Dionysus, the greek god of wine was insulted by a mortal. Enraged, he sent vicious tigers to exact regenge on the next mortal who would cross their path. The unfortunate maiden Amethyst was the poor mortal who found herself face-to-face with the tigers. Luckily for Amethyst, she was on her way to pay tribute to the Goddes Diana, who saved the maiden by turning her into a statue of pure crystalline quartz. The crystalline maiden was so beutiful that Dionysus wept tears of rich wine over the statue. This, of course, stained the quartz purple.

Amethyst Care:

Amethyst is rated "good" for everyday wear. To clean, very gently scrub with a soft toothbrush in warm water and mild dish soap. Avoid direct sunlight and exposure to heat.
