The Story Behind Duke’s Jewelers: Four Generations of Craftsmanship and Ca
Published: Nov 1, 2025

Since 1948, Duke’s Jewelers has been more than a jewelry store—it’s been part of the fabric of Springville. What began with a single workbench and a dream has grown into a fourth-generation, family-owned jeweler dedicated to artistry, integrity, and community.
A Legacy That Sparkles
Duke’s Jewelers was founded by J. Melvin Duke, a master craftsman with a love for fine jewelry and a belief that every piece should be made to last a lifetime. His attention to detail and devotion to quality quickly made Duke’s a trusted name throughout Utah Valley.
That same dedication continued through the hands of Richard Holmes, Melvin’s grandson, who carried on the family tradition of expert craftsmanship. Richard trained countless jewelers and designers over the years, passing along the same standards of precision and pride that built Duke’s reputation.
Carrying the Legacy Forward
Today, Kimberly Ngarupe, Duke’s fourth-generation owner, continues that legacy with heart and vision. Some of her earliest memories are sweeping the shop floors, cleaning glass cases, and dreaming of the day she could be part of the family business. Now, she leads a team that feels just like family—each person committed to the same values of care, honesty, and exceptional craftsmanship.
Custom Jewelry, Created with Intention
At Duke’s, every design begins with a story. Whether you’re creating an engagement ring from scratch or reimagining a treasured heirloom, our design and bench teams work hand-in-hand to bring your vision to life. With a GIA-certified gemologist ensuring every stone meets the highest standards, and skilled jewelers trained under Richard Holmes, your piece is crafted with the precision and artistry that defines our name.
More Than Jewelry
For us, jewelry has always been about connection—between families, between generations, and between the moments that matter most. We’re proud to serve our community as both artisans and neighbors, and we’re honored to continue a legacy built on trust, craftsmanship, and love for what we do.
Because at Duke’s Jewelers, it’s never just about jewelry.
It’s about family, craftsmanship, and the stories that shine through every piece.
